Total Basement Area is the area of the entire basement, including both finished and unfinished areas. For single-family residences, town houses and duplexes, this also must include the basement garage area.
For low-rise multiples, enter a parking garage using component 809 (Subterranean Garage).
The cost for this item includes the walls, concrete slab floor, drainage, electrical outlets, windows, stairwell and the necessary structural components to support the living area above. Add costs for finish using the basement minimally finished area, basement partitioned finish area and basement garage finish area components below.
Note: If you enter a total basement area, Residential Estimator does not make the foundation adjustment for the area of the basement.
